1966. People danced to the tunes of the Beatles, and Americans lost their lives in the Vietnam War. Also, a
new TV show called "Star Trek" made is debut. This new to addition the sci-fi genre was creator Gene
Roddenberry's vision of an ideal future.
It told the story of a time where peace reigns over earth and man's chief goal is to explore the far reaches of
space to find new worlds and civilizations, to "boldly go where no man had gone before." This concept
captivated the show's viewers, and Star Trek acquired a following worldwide.
Today, Star Trek has become much more than a TV show, it has become a phenomenon. It currently has more
than one million fans worldwide, with two television series on the air, eight feature films and four television
series in syndication.
My name is Casey Speer, and I am an avid Star Trek fan. In addition to this, I enjoy reading, playing musical
instruments, writing, and internet chatting. I will be your host as you explore this great selection of web sites
involving the Star Trek phenomenon.
The Star Trek Continuum
This is the best Star Trek site on the web! As soon as you enter, a special PADD program will be downloaded.
Trek fans will love this feature, which is right out of the television series. It allows you to navigate the site,
and gives you access to a vast array of Star Trek information including episode summaries, character
backgrounds, technology descriptions, and multimedia.
Other features of this site include chat, a Star Trek role-playing game, a shockwave game, and updated Star
Trek news. Members of the site get access to additional features, and membership is free!
Trek Web
This site doesn't have as many features as the above site, but does include some cool stuff. The first thing
you'll notice when you enter the site is the neat javascript holo-images that have a 3D feel. You must have IE
4.0 or Netscape 3.0 to view these images, which is a drawback for users with slow computers or slow
connections.
More features include a complete episode database which includes episode reviews, descriptions, and some
photos. This site also includes movie information, live chats with trek producers, etc, and the latest Star Trek
TV and movie news.
The Great Link
Awesome UK-based site for fans of the current Star Trek television series. It includes the latest Star Trek:
Deep Space 9 and Star Trek: Voyager news as well as the latest trek movie news.
Contains an archive of Voyager and DS9 videos, complete histories of the Borg and the Dominion, histories
of the DS9 characters, and the top ten DS9 and Voyager episodes. Soon to be included are Voyager character
histories, and complete episode summaries and reviews.
Admiral's Star Trek Universe
This is a cool Star Trek site whose best feature is a directory called TREKHOO. This is a complete listing of
Star Trek links with an interface similar to that of the popular Yahoo directory.
This site also features background information and photo galleries for each of the four Star Trek television
series, and includes descriptions of technology in relation to Star Trek: Voyager. Also included are
descriptions of the Borg and the Romulans, as well as a collection of pictures and sounds from the movie
Star Trek: First Contact.
Starfleet Database
Excellent Star Trek website which features really cool background music (trekkers will find it familiar). This
site also boasts the largest collection of trek downloads on the internet.
It includes the latest in trek news, as well as message boards and live trek chat. Offers you the option to
subscribe to the starfleet mailing list, which allows you to send messages to other subscribers.
Star Trek: The Experience
This is the homepage of the coolest Star Trek attraction in the universe! Housed in the Las Vegas Hilton, The
Star Trek Experience is enough to make any trek fan drool. It features a trek exhibit, a simulated shuttlecraft
journey through the trek universe, and a Star Trek restaurant.
