Are you looking for an authentic Thai Curry recipe, an article on cayenne pepper or a few tips on cooking with beer? Maybe you would rather shop in a culinary store, browse through a few cookbooks or chat with another food enthusiast?

All this and more can be found while food surfing on the internet. These sites are fun, informative and as I found out - definitely worth saving. If you need a recipe in a hurry, are curious about an ingredient or would like to play the latest trivia quiz, just click on my favorite places and you will be on your way.

Global Gourmet

I found this site to have something for just about everyone. The Global Gourmet includes a daily wine column and a weekly roundup of items, including recipes. You can put the Culinary Sleuth to good use or read one of the many articles.

Most recently I read The History of Easter Eggs and How To Cook With Beer and found them very interesting. The Food, Family and Fun are designed to look like a recipe card and also include a full nutritional breakdown. The Kitchen Trivia Game is no piece of cake, as I found out, but it's entertaining and you may be rewarded!

Epicurious

This stylish combination of Bon Appetit and Gourmet magazines contains everything from the wine pick of the week to a feature story on cayenne pepper. Recipes and tips are included, of course, but you will also have access to a selection of recipes culled from past issues of the magazine.

There is even a button that allows you to click and send a recipe to a friend. Now that's e-mail that will make your mouth water!

Fatfree: The Low-Fat Vegetarian Archive

This site includes hundreds of recipes for fat-free or low-fat dishes. Use the search function if you are looking for a recipe by type of food or ethnic catagory.

A feature that I found useful: you can also link up to a number of other sites that can lead you to more low-fat and vegetarian resources. You can never have too many new sites to check out!

Food Network's Cyber Kitchen

The Cyber Kitchen contains favorite recipes (I have printed out quite a few already) of the cooking shows on cable television's Food Network. If you are in a culinary quandry, you can ask questions and get answers from the Cyberchef.

The Food News Daily and cookbook and restaurant reviews are very informative. Shopping on-line is no problem in the Cyber Kitchen Gift Shop and where else can you find out where and when your favorite chef will be appearing in person!

Just a note: If the Food Network is included with your cable television service, the program and show schedules will come in handy.

Internet Chef

This electronic archive, dedicated to the worship of food, gives you access to thousands, yes thousands of recipes! The tips and hints, monthly articles, recipe of the week and full meal recipes are wonderful.

I enjoyed visiting the message board where guests can sign in and leave any sort of message. I responded to one of these messages from a fellow cook in South Africa by e-mailing a few recipes that were requested. Imagine that!

Internet Epicurean

This is a food magazine with a large recipe exchange area where you can ask someone for a recipe or post your response. There are feature articles, the editor's favorite food-related internet addresses (remember, you can never have too many!), and you can shop to your heart's content in the online store. The Cook's Calculator is worth saving to help you convert weights, temperatures and volumes.

Internet Food Channel

Put together by a Chicago-based newsletter of the same name, this site offers all sorts of tidbits including the Food Wire, which is updated daily and covers the news of the day in food. The chat area features interviews with well-known chefs and food experts.

You can check the cookbook reviews or print out a handful of recipes. The metric equivalent page and the Food Dictionary are quite useful, and the Food Pyramid will give you personal information about calories you should (or should not) be consuming!

Kitchen Link

The Kitchen Link is for people who have a passion for food, cooking and recipe collecting. It contains information published in newspapers, magazines and other on-line areas from the Detroit News to the Wine Spectator.

Besides having access to a wonderful recipe archive, you can visit "On the Menu Today" for recipes from breakfast to dinner. Betsy's Cookbooks offers new and used books for sale and the Recipe Center for Bread Machines is a page I will be visiting often, to widen my bread machine horizons!

Sally's Place

Here you will find a friendly mix of all sorts of food things including feature articles, interviews with food and wine experts, and reviews of cookbooks, software and restaurants.

Try your hand (or should I say your mouse) at a crossword puzzle or print out a food cartoon. And, if you find yourself planning a trip, you should really check out the Ports O' Call Travel Guide.

Soar: Searchable Online Archives of recipes

Over 35,000! recipes are currently indexed with additional ones added almost every day. The search feature allows you to query a recipe by the title or main ingredient. You can browse in the oh-so-many categories, which include ethnic foods, special occasions, restricted and special diets and weird stuff!!
